Custom Foot Orthotics
Custom foot orthotics are medical devices designed to support, align, or improve the function of the foot. At Adelaide Hills Podiatry, we offer orthotics tailored to your individual foot shape, biomechanics, and lifestyle needs. Whether you're dealing with persistent foot pain or looking to improve comfort in your daily or athletic activities, orthotics can play an essential role in your treatment plan.

Conditions Orthotics Can Help With
Custom orthotics may be used in the treatment of:

-
Plantar fasciopathy (commonly called plantar fasciitis)
-
Flat feet or collapsed arches
-
High arches
-
Heel pain and fat pad syndrome
-
Achilles tendinopathy
-
Knee, hip, or lower back pain related to foot function
-
Forefoot pain and neuromas
-
Bunions and hammertoes
Our Orthotic Process
We follow a detailed process to ensure the best fit and function:

-
Footwear review and advice - we'll ensure you're wearing appropriate shoes before considering orthotics
-
Biomechanical assessment – including gait analysis and joint range of motion testing
-
3D foot scanning – to create an accurate model of your feet
-
Custom design – selecting materials and features based on your activity level, condition, and preferences
-
Fitting and follow-up – ensuring the orthotics are comfortable and effective, with any necessary adjustments included
It’s important to note that not everyone needs orthotics. In many cases, a simple change in footwear or targeted exercises may be all that’s required. At Adelaide Hills Podiatry, we’re committed to providing honest, evidence-based care — and we only recommend orthotics when truly appropriate. We also offer semi-customised prefabricated orthoses as a more affordable alternative when suitable.
We can also modify or repair existing orthotics, even if they were originally made by another provider. This can be a cost-effective way to restore comfort and function without needing new devices.
