Effective, Evidence-Based Relief for Persistent Heel Pain

Struggling with chronic heel pain or plantar fasciitis? At Adelaide Hills Podiatry, we offer Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT) – a non-invasive, clinically supported treatment that helps reduce pain and stimulate healing. This service is available at our Nairne and Birdwood clinics.

What is Radial Shockwave Therapy?

Radial shockwave therapy uses mechanical soundwaves to target painful or injured tissue. These waves help:

  • Stimulate collagen production

  • Modulate pain signals

  • Increase blood flow

RSWT is particularly effective for plantar fasciitis, a leading cause of heel pain.

Backed by Best Practice Guidelines

This treatment is recommended in the Best Practice Guide for Plantar Heel Pain, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine (2021). It’s especially helpful for heel pain that has lasted more than six weeks and hasn’t responded to other treatments.

At Adelaide Hills Podiatry, we follow these evidence-based guidelines to provide the highest standard of care.

Diagnostic Ultrasound Assessment

Before starting treatment, a diagnostic ultrasound is typically used to confirm the diagnosis and ensure RSWT is appropriate. This helps target the therapy to the correct tissue and improves treatment outcomes.
